Together with adjacent Durham Castle, this UNESCO World Heritage Site forms one of the most stunning city panoramas in Europe.

We have some outstanding visitor attractions including Durham University’s Botanical Garden, Finchale Priory, Beamish Museum and Locomotion. If you enjoy a walk, you can join the Northern Saints Trails, the routes take you to the heart of nature where you’ll discover some of Durham’s amazing landscapes whilst immersed in the intricate histories of the regions Saints. While celebrating the past, the county also looks to the future. The NetPark science and technology park is breaking new ground as its fast-growing hi-tech companies lead the way in plastic electronics, photonics and nanotechnology.

We are proud to say that the outstanding teaching and exceptional facilities at Durham University secured its classification of 82nd in the QS World University ranking 2022, it has over 330 undergraduate and postgraduate courses delivered over 17 sites.

Durham has amazing transport links, including quick access the A1, Durham Tees Valley and Newcastle International airports are both nearby and an effective rail network which includes the East Coast Main Line which will have you in London within three hours or Edinburgh within two.
