As Assistant Director of Education your priorities will include
• Promoting educational excellence, ensuring that the provision in North Tyneside is high quality and inclusive for all pupils and young people.
• Provide a clear sense of direction, optimism, and purpose across the service.
• Manage the relationship between the Council and its schools and educational providers to ensure that all children and young people in North Tyneside can benefit from an excellent education.
• Significantly improve education and wellbeing outcomes for all children and young people, through driving inclusion in schools and the provision of school improvement services, support to governors and a range of other services to ensure high standards and positive outcomes for children and young people.
• Delivering on the Achieving for Education and SEND Inclusion Strategy
• Ensure delivery on Statutory responsibilities for young people with EHCPs
• Provide strategic leadership to the Early Years and School improvement Service, SEND, Employment and Skills Team and the Educational Psychology Service.
• Oversee and act as the lead adviser to the Council’s senior officers and Members on educational and school issues in North Tyneside and to ensure that the statutory obligations of the DCS/DASS in relation to education services are fully discharged.
The postholder will also lead in supporting the implementation of the education white paper and SEND green paper whilst working with other agencies and education providers to ensure children and young people across the Borough have access to a broad range of high-quality educational provision.
You will be joining at an exciting time for the Council and will be in a highly influential position, having the opportunity to shape and deliver our plans around transforming children’s services.
