Do you want to make a real difference to how people in Newcastle access support and stay informed?

Are you passionate about empowering communities through accessible digital information? Do you thrive in fast-paced, collaborative environments and enjoy working across sectors to make a lasting impact?

We’re offering two exciting opportunities to join our growing Prevention, Information and Advice Team within the Adult Social Care and Prevention Directorate. As a Prevention, Information and Advice Lead, you’ll help shape how residents, professionals, and community organisations access and engage with vital information—especially through InformationNOW.org.uk, Newcastle’s trusted service directory.

About the Role
You’ll lead the development and promotion of InformationNOW, which now attracts over 1 million unique visitors annually. You’ll work with a wide range of stakeholders—from NHS teams and voluntary organisations to local authority services—to ensure the site remains relevant, inclusive, and impactful.

You’ll also:
  • Manage and develop the InformationNOW website, ensuring content is accurate, accessible, and user focused.
  • Promote the site through campaigns, outreach, and training to increase visibility and engagement.
  • Champion digital inclusion and accessibility, ensuring all content meets best practice standards.
  • Represent the service at strategic forums and contribute to wider service development.
  • Analyse web analytics and user feedback to inform content strategy and improve user experience

What We’re Looking For?
  • We’re looking for proactive, motivated individuals who bring energy and creativity to the role. You should have:
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively, prioritising competing workloads.
  • Experience in marketing, community engagement, or digital communications in public, voluntary, health, or education settings.
  • Skills in website management and digital publishing.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.
  • Confidence using a range of methods to engage users—e-newsletters, social media, radio, podcasts.
  • Understanding of local government, health, and VCSE sector dynamics.

Why Join Us?
Working for Newcastle City Council means access to:
  • Competitive salary and Local Government Pension Scheme.
  • Flexible working hours and agile working options.
  • Opportunities to buy extra leave and access to salary sacrifice schemes.
  • Cycle2work scheme
  • Access to a salary sacrifice home electronics scheme.
  • Full training and support, including Health Assured Employee Assistance Programme.
  • Preferential access to internal job opportunities.
  • A culture that supports learning, development, and innovation.
