  • Do you want a role where you can make a real difference and raise the profile of co-production at Stockton-on-Tees Borough Council?

We have a fantastic opportunity for a Lived Experience Co-Ordinator to join our team here at Stockton-on-Tees Borough Council. This is a temporary post to cover Maternity Leave until March 2026.

This is an exciting and unique role that is based in the Adult Strategy Team, but your work will be far-reaching, extending not only across Adult Social Care but across the Council and with our communities and external partners.

As a Council, we are committed to putting our communities at the heart of everything we do with a commitment to co-production to empower our communities to shape the support they receive. In this role, you will be instrumental in supporting this mission by facilitating the voices of those with lived experience of drawing on Adult Social Care and Support.

What will you be doing?

You will engage directly with our communities to build relationships and understand people’s experiences of care and support. You will ensure that this learning is embedded throughout our work to inform improvement activity and decision-making at all levels. This is a fantastic opportunity to shape our Adult Social care and support offer to ensure it best meets the needs of those who draw on services, their informal carers and families.

You will work collaboratively with Commissioners, Contract Managers, Social Care Professionals, and our health partners to embed a strong culture of co-production within the Council and beyond.

What will you bring to the role?

Whilst experience of working in a social care setting is advantageous, it is not essential. What is more important is that you are dynamic, self-motivated and passionate about working in partnership to improve outcomes for our citizens, ensuring that the voices of our communities are heard.

We would welcome applications from people with lived experience, whether you have accessed our services personally or have supported somebody who has. However, this is not a requirement.

This role is a mix of desk-based work and outreach work with our communities and partner agencies, making it perfect for someone who has or is looking for, a flexible approach. Building effective and positive relationships will be key to the role, and the successful candidate will be an excellent communicator who can build rapport and trust.

For more detailed information about the role, please refer to the Job Description and Person Specification included in the Supporting Documents section.

Stockton-on-Tees Borough Council prides itself on being a great place to work where staff are trusted, valued and supported to make a positive contribution at work.

We offer an excellent total reward package, including:
  • A competitive annual salary of up to £36,124
  • 27 days annual leave per year rising to 32 with 5 years service (plus bank holidays). Pro rata for the period of the maternity cover.
  • Generous Pension Scheme through the LGPS with ability to pay extra and plan for retirement.
  • Access to a number of other employee benefits including learning & development opportunities, a car lease scheme, discounts at high street and online retailers, an employee assistance programme and physiotherapy services.
Whilst this is a full-time role, we would be open to discussing part-time options.

Please tell us if you would like to discuss reasonable adjustments for your application and/or the role.

As this is a fixed-term post, secondment opportunities will be considered for internal employees. Please obtain prior approval from your current line manager before completing the application. For further information, please refer to the council’s secondment policy.
