Deputy Head Teacher
L8 – L12 £59,167 - £65,286
Required September 2025
At Durham Lane Primary School, we are a family: a family built on positive partnerships between school, children, parents, governors, the local community and the wider world.
Due to the phased retirement of our long-standing Deputy Head Teacher, the Governing Body are seeking to appoint an inspirational Deputy Head Teacher to join our ambitious leadership team.
Applications are invited from suitably qualified, highly effective and experienced Leaders. The successful candidate will need to show that they have the ability and vision to be a vital part of our wonderful school and will take a proactive and hands-on approach to school leadership. The role will require the successful candidate to teach part-time in KS2 as well as to support the Head Teacher on a day to day basis with the leadership of the school.
Durham Lane Primary school prides itself on ensuring that it offers an outstanding education with the happiness and well-being of our children at its core. We aim to maintain a secure, caring and stimulating community in which children are encouraged to have respect for themselves and each other. Through quality teaching and learning, children are given the opportunity to develop individuality and responsibility whilst being challenged to achieve their full potential.
We believe it is important that we develop the whole child, nurturing the academic, creative, spiritual, aesthetic and social aspects equally. Self-discipline and acceptable codes of behaviour are valued and promoted. We see our school as being at the heart of a larger community and we encourage our children to value and celebrate the diversities they encounter in this community and the wider world. Everything we do is for our children.
We are looking for a Deputy Head Teacher who:
- is an approachable, forward thinking, enthusiastic, communicative and inspirational leader with a track record of improving outcomes for all children;
- has demonstrated success in being an outstanding KS2 teacher;
- has had a history of achievement in successfully leading English;
- is committed to developing our inclusive and nurturing ethos;
- has the skills, expertise and experience to continue to develop the highest standards of teaching and learning;
- has the enthusiasm to encourage a learning environment which motivates children and staff alike;
- shows commitment to being a continuous life-long learner.
We can offer you:
- confident and enthusiastic children who enjoy learning;
- friendly, skilled and committed staff who are supportive and open to new ideas;
- a Governing Body who are fully supportive of school and its journey towards excellence;
- an opportunity to work in a school with high standards and the capacity for continued further improvement;
- a supportive and caring environment with a strong sense of community;
- staff who have high expectations of themselves and our pupils;
- a strong commitment to continuing professional development and support;
- a strong and ambitious leadership team with a clear sense of strategic direction.
Visits to the school are essential and can be arranged via the school office.
