Further Information
  • Are you an experienced animal professional looking for your next challenge?
  • Do you pride yourself on having excellent communication skills?

Look no further! We have a fantastic opportunity for an Animal Collection Officer to join our award-winning team at Stockton-on-Tees Borough Council, who have recently been awarded ‘Platinum’ status by the RSPCA for our stray dog service.

This is not just a job—it’s a vocation. As an Animal Collection Officer, you will be responsible for the care, transportation, and safety of stray dogs, while promoting responsible dog ownership to the public. This role is an excellent opportunity to make a hands-on difference to your local community, alongside ensuring the highest standards of welfare for the animals that come into our care.

We are looking for a personable and enthusiastic individual with experience in dealing with various companion animals (predominantly dogs) and/or holds a relevant qualification. You will specifically have experience with securing, handling, kennelling, transportation, cleaning and feeding.

Alongside animal-handling experience, as this is primarily a public-facing role, excellent communication skills are key. As well as communicating with the public, you will be working alongside our internal and external partners to find solutions that prioritise the wellbeing of the animal whilst meeting our statutory duties as a service.

You will work on a set rota pattern which is agreed in advance, and will work only one in four weekends, allowing you to plan your life around your work.

For more detailed information about the role, please refer to the Job Description and Person Specification included in the Supporting Documents section. • 27 days annual leave per year rising to 32 with 5 years service (plus bank holidays). Ability to purchase additional leave is also available.
