Grade G - SCP 9-12 (£25,119 - £26,421 pay award pending) 37 hours per week – whole time (working hours and pattern to be negotiated)
 
Horizons Specialist Academy Trust consists of seven Academies and one Sixth Form across the Tees Valley and North Yorkshire area serving a population in excess of 800 students with a broad range of learning difficulties.  
 
The Trust wishes to appoint a Caretaker to join our site management team. The successful candidate will be based across 2 sites – Hollis Academy in Middlesbrough and Westlands Academy in Thornaby but this will role may also involve working across other local academies within the Trust and therefore it is essential that the post holder has access to their own transport.
 
Opportunities to complete a range of premises related training will also be available to the successful candidate.  Previous school experience is not essential.
 
The post holder will work in partnership with the Premises team to:
 
-Ensure the cleanliness of the building/Academy.
-Supervise cleaners and cleaning as and when required.
-Carry out repairs and maintenance that are beyond the scope of a       competent DIY person.
-Carry out daily and weekly scheduled tasks.
-Have basic IT skills in order to operate planned maintenance   programs.
-Be responsible for opening and closing as and when required.
-Be one of the named key holders for the Academy. 

The successful candidate will be someone who is keen to maintain high standards and be able to use their own initiative with regards to prioritising their workload and recognising areas in the academy that require attention. Candidates should have some awareness of COSHH, although training will be given, and be prepared to work flexibly especially during the absence of colleagues across the Trust.  Experience in a trade such as joinery or plumbing would be an advantage.
