Horizons Specialist Academy Trust consists of six Academies and one Sixth Form across Stockton-on-Tees, Middlesbrough and Redcar serving a population of over 600 students aged 5 to 19 with a broad range of learning/SEMHD difficulties.

Green Gates Academy is situated in Elm Tree in Stockton and provides for approximately 50 students aged 5 to 11 years who have SEMHD, as well as other learning difficulties.

We are seeking an outstanding, creative and enthusiastic Primary teacher to start as soon as possible.

The academy is looking to recruit a teacher who has the ability, perseverance and resilience to be an outstanding practitioner. The right candidate would need to be an enthusiastic and inspirational teacher, with high expectations of our children and themselves.

The academy caters for pupils with Emotional and Behavioural Difficulties (SEMHD) and this post is to teach a small class consisting of pupils aged 5-11 years old. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing an engaging curriculum and delivering outstanding teaching and learning to all their pupils, helping them to achieve the best academic results they can. They will act as a role model to pupils and will strive to inspire a love of learning in all.

Although it is not essential that the right candidate has SEN experience, they must have an interest in Special Educational Needs and have a very patient, calm and resilient nature and a resolve to make a real difference to the lives of children. Candidates will need to have excellent behavior management skills.

The successful candidate should have excellent knowledge of the Primary Curriculum, be able to differentiate lessons to suit all pupils. They will also need to be flexible as there may be opportunities in the future across the Primary Key Stages.

We offer a collaborative and supportive environment where staff are valued and nurtured and your input, enthusiasm and talents will be welcomed and appreciated as you join us on an exciting stage of our journey.

Applications are particularly welcome from newly qualified teachers from either a primary or secondary background as well as experienced teachers. As well as excellent curriculum knowledge, good communication and interpersonal skills, the successful candidates will have proven ability to work as part of a team of teachers and support staff as well as the flexibility and willingness to offer a range of subjects. Previous experience of working with students with SEMHD would be desirable but not essential.

A visit to the academy would be highly recommended. However, please note due to the current climate, this may need to take place after school hours. To arrange this and/or to obtain an application form and further information please e-mail Mrs Julie Povall on julie.povall@horizonstrust.org.uk

Completed application forms should be returned by Friday, 25th March, 2022 to Mrs. Julie Povall, HR/Governance Clerk, Abbey Hill Academy, Ketton Road, Stockton-on-Tees. TS19 8BU or by email to julie.povall@horizonstrust.org.uk
