Northumberland County Council is seeking to recruit to the post of Prison Library Assistant to join our dedicated team providing a library service within HMP Northumberland. We are looking for someone with a knowledge & enthusiasm for reading & books and a working knowledge of library procedures. Good IT skills are essential and a knowledge of library management systems are desirable. Strong communication skills and an ability to work in a team are essential.

The job involves Saturday & evening working shifts & the work can be physically demanding. The shift pattern is as follows:
Monday & Tuesday: 13:45 - 19:15
Wednesday: 08:45 - 12:45
Thursday: 08:45 - 12:15
Approx 1 in 4 Saturdays: 08:45 - 11:45

You will be working in a challenging but rewarding environment and supporting the Prison Librarian to deliver a first class service supporting learning and skills and the rehabilitation agenda within the prison community.
