Hirst Active Youth based at the Hirst Welfare Centre in Ashington are recruiting for a Youth Support Worker for 16 hours per week. We provide recreational and educational projects and activities for young people aged 11-19 years in the Ashington Area. We run a 4 day per week centre based youth provision; which includes, Gender specific groups, social action projects, cooking initiative, holiday provision, sports, and drop in sessions.

We are now recruiting for a qualified youth support worker who will join our small enthusiastic and hardworking team. As a Youth Support Worker you will help plan and deliver a programme of informal education activities that meet the needs of young people who attend the sessions. You will be able to develop ideas and move them forward in the best interests of young people. You will be taking a lead role in the development and delivery of our activities.

We are looking for individuals who:

• Have experience of working with young people.

• Have a youth work qualification.

• Able to develop appropriate, professional relationships with young people and other organisations.

• Have an understanding of young people’s needs.

• Able to work as part of a team and on a one to one with young people

• Are enthusiastic, able to use their initiative and work independently and have a flexible approach to working.

£10.50 per hour for Level 3 Qualified Staff

16 Hours per week (Initial 12 months contract)
