Required for September 2017 or as soon as possible thereafter.

A highly motivated, enthusiastic and experienced qualified Teacher of the Deaf is required to provide specialist support for deaf and hearing impaired children and young people, their parents/carers, schools/settings. It is anticipated that you will join the team of teachers and support staff in the well established and successful SENTASS Hearing Impairment Service. In keeping with all central service appointments and to facilitate a response to emerging needs in the service, the role will be flexible. Initially your role will be in Heaton Manor Hearing Impairment Additionally Resourced Centre.

Ideally you will have:
• specialist mandatory qualification in teaching deaf children.(QToD).
• an innovative, creative and effective approach to teaching.
• excellent communication skills with at least BSL Level 2.
• recent experience of working in a variety of educational settings, with a range of children & young people with SEN.
• the ability to work with parents, other colleagues and relevant professionals.
• flexible with a commitment to working as part of a team to deliver a positive learning experience to children across the City.
• own transport to enable travel between educational settings.
