Further Information
If you are a teacher looking for a model of schooling that dares to break the mould, and genuinely connects the creative arts to the whole curriculum, then this might just be for you.
We are looking for great people who want to become even better to join our school.
We are particularly interested in teachers of Art & Design, Photography and Media. Additional skills in Design Technology would be welcome too. We are appointing a team of new staff so we will consider applicants from all stages of their teaching careers.
You could join our team at the newest of our extraordinary schools: XP Gateshead. Our rigorous 3-D approach develops activism, leadership and equity in our students by creating beautiful work, which develops character and ensures that our children achieve academic success.
XP Gateshead is a new mainstream 11-16 Secondary School that opened in August 2021. We are a deliberately sized school with each year having 50 students, we currently have 200 students in years 7, 8, 9 and 10. We are now recruiting for our fifth year of opening.
We believe a person is judged by their character and the quality of work they produce. As such the creative arts are at the heart of our curriculum. We teach through cross-curricular learning expeditions where students address important guiding questions, making connections between disciplines.
Our children express who they are by personalising their work, and are given time to produce beautiful and meaningful work by following a process of multiple drafts and critique, working towards creating products which are curated in the community and are indistinguishable from the work of professionals.
At XP Trust, our teachers are more than educators; they are creators, leaders, and role models. You will work collaboratively to design and deliver innovative, interdisciplinary learning expeditions that inspire students to think deeply, work courageously, and act with integrity. We expect you to set high standards for both academic excellence and character development, guiding students to craft beautiful, meaningful work that leaves a lasting impact on their community and the world. As a member of our Crew, you’ll foster a culture of teamwork, equity, and belonging, embodying the values of respect, craftsmanship, and compassion every day.
Joining XP Trust means becoming part of a community that does things differently. We believe education is about more than passing exams – it’s about shaping thoughtful, capable, and kind individuals who are ready to change the world. Here, you’ll collaborate with passionate colleagues to create groundbreaking learning experiences, supported by a culture that prioritises personal growth and professional development. If you want to teach in a school where your creativity is valued, your work makes a difference, and you can be part of something bigger than yourself, XP Trust is the place for you.
This role is based at our school in Gateshead however there is an expectation that colleagues will travel to XP Doncaster for continued professional development from time to time as necessary. There is an extensive induction process when joining our Trust.
XP Gateshead is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and the successful applicant will be required to undertake an enhanced check via the Disclosure and Barring Service .
