The Ascent Academies’ Trust was founded in 2012 and is a family of five special academies in the North East of England, over four different local authorities. We are a collaborative group of academies who work closely with one another in order to achieve the best outcomes for our young people. As a result, our academies have improved year on year and all academies are currently at least Good from an Ofsted rating, with some individual areas rated Outstanding.

This is an exciting time to join our Trust as we look to set out our next steps in creating brilliant schools. We are an ethical Trust whose vision and values are aligned to equality and diversity, collaboration and lifelong learning.

We are looking to recruit to our TA2 and TA1 vacancies within Ash Trees Academy, Barbara Priestman Academy, Hope Wood Academy, Portland Academy and Mowbray Academy.  The following types of contracts are available: permanent; temporary; job-share/ part-time and supply.

Salary information

TA2s (Teaching Assistants) - based at Barbara Priestman, Portland or Hope Wood Academy
Hours/ weeks: 37hours/wk, 39 weeks (TTO + 1 week)
Salary: Grade D £21,804 - £22,143 actual paid salary for working 37 hours per week/ 39 weeks per year 

TA2s (Teaching Assistants) - based at Ash Trees Academy
Hours/ weeks: 32.5hours/wk, 39 weeks (TTO + 1 week)
Salary: Grade D £19,152 - £19,450 actual paid salary for working 32.5 hours per week/ 39 weeks per year 

TA1s (Care Assistants) - based at Barbara Priestman, Portland or Hope Wood Academy
Hours/ weeks: 37hours/wk, 39 weeks (TTO + 1 week)
Salary: Grade C £21,125 - £21,464 actual paid salary for working 37 hours per week/ 39 weeks per year 

TA1s (Care Assistants) - based at Ash Trees Academy
Hours/ weeks: 32.5hours/wk, 39 weeks (TTO + 1 week)
Salary: Grade C £18,556 - £18,854 actual paid salary for working 32.5 hours per week/ 39 weeks per year 

TA2s (Teaching Assistants) - based at Mowbray Academy
Hours/ weeks: hours to be confirmed, 39 weeks (TTO + 1 week)
Salary: Grade D (SCP5-6) £12.85 - £13.05 per hour

TA1s (Care Assistants) - based at Mowbray Academy
Hours/ weeks: 27.75hours/wk, 39 weeks (TTO + 1 week)
Salary: Grade C £15,844 - £16,098 actual paid salary for working 27.75 hours per week/ 39 weeks per year 


Supply contracts hourly rates:
TA2s - £12.85 - £13.05 (holiday plusage also added to the hourly rate shown)
TA1s - £12.45 - £12.65 (holiday plusage also added to the hourly rate shown)

Interviews will be held over 3 days in various locations and whilst we will try to offer an interview in your preferred Academy, this may not be possible.  However, during your interview, we will ask which Academy you would like to work at should you be successful at the interview stage

Interview dates are: Monday 24th March, Tuesday 25th March and Wednesday 26th March 2025.
