Salary - £28,485 - £36,379 (Depending on experience)

As a Social Worker in the Together for Children Assessment Team you will take responsibility to safeguard and promote the welfare of the City’s most vulnerable unborn babies, children and young people, through the delivery of a high quality service by working in accordance with best practice, procedures and legislative requirements.

The Assessment Team currently comprises of 4 Team Managers, 2 Assistant Team Managers and approximately 28 Social Workers.

As a Social worker in the assessment Team you will be responsible for the completion of statutory duties mainly comprising child focused s.17 Child in Need Assessments, s.47 Child Protection Enquiries and s.20 Looked After Children. Direct work with children and young people is a fundamental requirement of the Social Worker role in the Assessment Team.

As a Social Worker you will also be responsible for attending and sharing assessments and information at Child in Need Transfer Meetings, Strategy Meetings, Initial Child Protection Conferences and Public Law Outline Panel to initial care proceedings, when necessary.

On a rotational basis you will undertake duty Social Worker tasks to response to child safeguarding issues requiring an immediate response

Together for Children is a newly established Company in Sunderland which works on behalf of the Council to deliver children’s services in the city including social care, early help and education

Improvement is being rigorously monitored through a multi-agency board and we consult with staff regarding the developments and change that effect front line practice.
