This is an exciting opportunity for a social worker or current team manager, looking for a new challenge within Adult Social Care. We currently have a vacancy for a Safeguarding Team Manager.

To help us recruit social workers who are committed to working in Middlesbrough we are currently offering a 10% supplement to social work salaries.  This additional 10% will be reviewed at the end of March 2025.

The Access Safeguarding Team acts as the single point of contact for Adult Social Care. The post holder will be expected to ensure the provision of an effective and comprehensive Access and Safeguarding service to service users and carers in Middlesbrough.

The Access Safeguarding Team has two managers who each hold the responsibility for managing an element of the service the incoming requests for social work assessment and the incoming safeguarding concerns. However the post holder will also need to be flexible and responsive to working across the different service areas within the Team, supporting colleagues when required. You will have the opportunity to take a blended contract, working from home as well working from Fountain Court, our newly renovated, open planned and modern office. The office environment has an excellent kitchen and dining area and we encourage staff to take a break and eat together at lunch time. New staff joining Middlesbrough Council can expect a warm welcome from the team.

You will have the opportunity to work collaboratively with other adult social care teams and our homeless team who share our office space. Middlesbrough Council offer superb training and development opportunities via our online training portal and through our workforce development lead. As a service we are also committed to supporting our staff and providing a healthy work culture. Staff have access to monthly as well as other staff support forums and protected development time.
