The Governing Body of Greatham Church of England Primary School is looking to appoint an experienced, enthusiastic and dedicated SEND Teaching Assistant to start in September 2024.

We are looking for an outstanding, enthusiastic professional who can work well as part of a team and is a patient and kind individual who can work with children with special educational needs.

The successful candidate will need to be able to demonstrate an excellent level of understanding of children with specific needs and how they can be supported to ensure they flourish at Greatham School. You must have experience of working as a teaching assistant in a school setting and have evidence of experience of working with children with Special Educational Needs. Candidates will provide 1-1 and small group support. Your role may include intimate care with personal hygiene and toileting needs.

You will also assist the teaching staff in the preparation of the learning environment, liaising with parents and maintaining pupil records. You will also be responsible for supporting children at playtimes and lunchtimes.


You should be able to;

• Communicate well with children who have additional needs

• Support the class teacher and SENDCO in all aspects required of the role

• Demonstrate drive and skills to raise standards of pupils’ attainment and achievement

• Support the planning and delivery of the curriculum enabling access to learning for all pupils

• Support classroom management and behaviour techniques as directed

• Work alongside specific outside agencies where required.
