Reporting to the Capital Programme Manager, you will play a critical role overseeing the planning, implementation, and longer-term delivery of capital programmes within the Council’s Powering our Future Programme.
This is an exciting and varied role in the new Programme Management Office (PMO). Our team’s work will directly support the Council’s Senior Management Team to achieve their ambitions for the future of the Council and the Borough. This role will give you the opportunity to work across the Council and with partners, enabling you to develop your experience across a range of service areas.
You will help the Programme Management Office:
- Accelerate effective and efficient delivery of Powering Our Future Capital Programmes
- Embed robust and consistent Programme and Project management standards and governance across the Council
- Deliver assurances and recommendations to the Council’s leadership teams on delivery and resource allocation.
You will be responsible for developing and maintaining a portfolio of projects and will oversee effective delivery using proven project management tools. This will include capture and management of key milestones, resource needs, risks/issues, interdependencies, governance arrangements, and where appropriate, stakeholder engagement.
You will be a champion for capital programme management excellence, encouraging and demonstrating excellent programme standards and methodology through all stages. You will be an advocate for a positive organisational culture, embedding an understanding that Programme and Project management, transformation and innovation add real value.
Demonstrable knowledge and experience of project management techniques to deliver complex organisational change is essential. You should also have a sound knowledge and understanding of the significant issues facing the Council and public sector organisations more broadly, along with excellent communication skills.
This post has been identified as suitable for flexible working, enabling the successful post holder to partially work from home, subject to meeting the needs of the business.
