Sunderland City Council is looking for a keen and highly-motivated team member to support the Environmental Health Manager in the delivery of the Councils Pest Control Service.

To apply for this role ideally you will need to have a degree qualification with some experience of working in a local authority or regulating role with a knowledge of pest control.

The successful candidate will be involved in developing quality systems to ensure that the Pest Control Team are quality driven, responsive to customer needs, effective and efficient in accordance with legislative requirements, policies and procedures.

You will have sound knowledge of pest control and be able to provide advice to the public, businesses and other agencies on pest control matters and deal with contracts, disclaimers and service level agreements for pest control.

In addition, you will be responsible for ensuring the effective enforcement of relevant legislation, and co-ordinate enforcement actions with other regulatory agencies, and to supervise the investigation of complaints and service requests.

You may be required to prepare statements, evidence and case file papers and other such information in relation to Court proceeding and to attend and present evidence as may be required at the Magistrates and Crown Court.

The successful candidate will liaise on a regular basis with representatives of service users, trades and other professionals, and attend associated meetings as appropriate to resolve any pest control issues in the city and assist in the training and development of staff.

The role requires excellent communication skills and the ability to deal confidently and effectively with the public, businesses and members of other organisations in addition to a strong commitment to customer service excellence.
