Missing Project Worker (return interviews)

Fixed term contract until 31st March 2018
37 hours per week
£22,034 per annum

Based at The Children's Society offices in Newcastle

The Children’s Society has been helping children and young people in this country for over 130 years. We run local services that support children when they are at their most vulnerable and in desperate need of help. We’re there for children, every step of the way.

This role sits within our Safeguarding Children At Risk Prevention and Action (SCARPA) team, which works across Tyne and Wear and Northumberland with children and young people who go missing or are at risk of sexual exploitation. Your role will be to help us maintain our excellent services in Newcastle, providing interviews to children who return home after going missing.

We are looking for a committed individual who can successfully engage young people, and is comfortable working in close collaboration with statutory partners. You will be joining our dynamic, ambitious team, providing a key role in engaging young people - often for the first time.

In order to be successful in this role, you must have:

• Substantial relevant experience in working with children and young people at risk, from diverse backgrounds
• Experience of supporting people who are dealing with complex and sensitive issues.
• A relevant professional qualification e.g. diploma in social work, certificate in youth and community work, or
  related NVQ
• Awareness of issues effecting young people who go missing, and the associated risks they are exposed to
• Ability to record interventions delivered in an effective, concise professional manner

The closing date for applications is 5pm on 13th of April 2017
Interviews will be held on the week commencing 24th of April.
