It’s an exciting time to be joining the Housing Options Team within South Tyneside Homes. With the introduction of the Homelessness Reduction Act and some major changes in the way we deliver services, you will be an integral part of ensuring tenancy success and positive outcomes for the range of customers who rely on our services.

Sitting within the wider Housing Solutions Service, the Housing Options Team delivers personalised and customer centred housing advice to people in housing need, in crisis or just looking for their next home. Our customers are a diverse and valued part of what we do and as a Housing Options Officer you will be the face of the service, ensuring you proactively deliver outstanding performance so that we can make a real and lasting difference. Through our new outreach based service model you will work across the borough to ensure the service is delivered in a way that is accessible, open and transparent.

To do this you will have had experience of working in a social housing, homeless or customer facing setting and have had to conduct complex investigation, with attention to detail, solid organisational skills and ability to make robust decisions. A working knowledge of relevant legislation is essential, along with the interpersonal skills expected to effectively engage and support customers and colleagues.
