Do you have a keen interest in Horticulture? Do you want to be part of keeping Redcar and Cleveland looking beautiful and well maintained? If yes then this apprenticeship could be for you! We are seeking to recruit a number of Horticulture apprentices who will work across the whole of the borough. This is a 2 year apprenticeship. Duties will include tree planting, cultivate, prune and maintain rose, shrub and flower beds, complete grounds maintenance using strimmers and other small powered machinery for grass/hedge cutting, preparation and planting of bedding schemes, implementation of landscape schemes, planning and maintaining gardens, parks and other green spaces, marking out and maintenance of sports facilities, soft and hard landscaping activities and assisting in the maintenance and other relevant tasks within the Borough’s Cemeteries.
As part of your apprenticeship you will be required to attend Redcar Adult Learning for one day per week. This is located in Redcar and Cleveland College. You will study towards your level 2 Horticulture Apprenticeship qualification. You will also complete additional training including Application of Chemicals and Emergency First Aid.
Essential Requirements
*Minimum of grade 4/C in GCSE Maths and English or equivalent Functional Skills L2. (If you have an EHCP grade 3 or Entry Level 3 Functional Skills will be accepted.
*IT Skills - The apprentice will need to produce a portfolio using Microsoft Office Applications.
Please note you must be able to travel to depots in East Cleveland, Redcar and Grangetown.
