About the Academy
 
North Gosforth Academy is a small secondary school from Year 7 through to Year 11 with a strong focus on providing high quality education in a safe, happy and caring environment. Community is at the heart of what we do.  Each student is a valued member of the academy and we take pride in giving them opportunities which will allow them to thrive as an individual, both academically and holistically. Students receive a first-class education from our team of enthusiastic, dedicated teachers and our pastoral and support staff. About the role
 
North Gosforth Academy are looking to appoint a brilliant Head of Year who is passionate, pro-active and innovative to join the Academy’s successful Pastoral team. The role provides pastoral support and care to students and families, while supporting with learning and managing student behaviour and attendance issues as appropriate. The post is ideal for someone who is focussed on student welfare and progress and keen to be an integral part of the many varied aspects of school life.
 
This position requires high levels of energy and enthusiasm. The ideal candidate will demonstrate excellent assertiveness and interpersonal skills and will work closely with colleagues to provide a consistent approach. Applicants must be able to demonstrate that they are able to work under their own initiative, be flexible and respond positively to challenging situations. We would welcome applications from anyone who thinks they have the skillset to undertake this exciting and varied role.

  • Has experience working in a pastoral role in a secondary school
  • Has a passion for working with young people and supporting colleagues
  • Can build strong professional relationships with students, parents and staff
  • Is proactive in offering support and guidance
  • Is able to work independently supervising students
