We are looking for a visionary and highly experienced Head of Culture and Tourism to lead the service. This is a great role for the right person to take forward our ambitious cultural and tourism strategic plans, driving forward change and growth.

The post has strategic responsibility for the Council’s approach to enhancing the contribution of culture, leisure, tourism, and heritage in generating strong communities and wellbeing and contributing to the economic success of the borough. We have big ambitions and culture is key in driving our success as a vibrant destination for people to live, work and enjoy.

You will be responsible for leading the development and provision of the Council’s cultural and tourism offer to residents and visitors to Redcar and Cleveland. This includes a wide range of high-quality services including Cultural Programmes, events and festivals, sport and physical activity development, libraries, Kirkleatham Museum & Grounds and visitor attractions including the Saltburn Cliff Tramway.

The next decade is a dramatic opportunity for creativity, culture and heritage in Redcar and Cleveland, to the benefit of everyone living and working here. Working with the sector and partners this role is key to achieving the ambitions for the area, and what’s needed to achieve them.

There is vast regeneration taking place across the borough with exciting capital developments for the successful person to help drive forward including a new culture and leisure anchor attraction in Redcar.

You will also be responsible for driving forward the development and marketing of the borough’s Tourism offer. The ambition is to grow tourism for the good of Redcar & Cleveland with a dynamic year-round visitor offer and a reputation for great value and high quality experiences.

You will be an established, and proven leader, with a passion for culture, Redcar and Cleveland and the Tees Valley. This role is responsible for proactively brokering and managing a range of important multi-partner relationships on a local, regional and national level.
