An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Environmental Health Officer to join the Environmental Protection Team at Redcar and Cleveland Borough Council.
The team is responsible for the enforcement of noise, dust, odour and smoke nuisance. Other duties include monitoring emissions to air alongside campaigns to improve air quality, controlling the management of contaminated land, enforcing the Environmental Permitting Regulations, Bathing Waters Regulations and actively engaging in projects around our service area.
The role of the team is to protect public health through the enforcement of relevant laws, by supporting businesses in Redcar and Cleveland to achieve legal compliance and best practice and to help bring about improvements to the environment via project work. We are committed to providing a quality service to people, who live, work in and visit the borough.
This multi-disciplinary role requires a committed and flexible officer to contribute to delivering the team's range of functions.
The successful candidate will be expected to carry out a variety of duties. These will include investigating complaints of statutory nuisance, responding to Licensing Act consultations for the prevention of public nuisance and planning applications for the control of nuisance, impacts on air quality and consideration of contaminated land.
In this role the successful candidate will liaise with other departments in the Council and other external agencies with respect to multidisciplinary work and projects. The successful applicant is expected to bring to the role the flexibility to carry out periodic out-of-hours work.
You must have an Environmental Health Degree/Diploma and EHRB Registration and ideally have at least two years’ recent experience in Environmental Protection disciplines and believe that you can make a valued contribution to our service.
