Middlesbrough is an easily accessible and relatively small town with the coast on one side, the North Yorkshire Moors on another and the Lakes just a ride away. We are known for our premier league football club, and of course Captain James Cook.

Just like Captain Cook, the Middlesbrough EP Team is embarking on a period of both ‘Adventure and Endeavour’. Middlesbrough Council are delighted to have appointed an experienced EP to the post of Principal Educational Psychologist and now to advertise for a number of EP posts as part of a Section and Service Redevelopment Strategy. This is an exciting time to come aboard and play a crucial part in our re-fit.

We are looking to appoint enthusiastic and committed crew members who are passionate about applying psychology in the service of children, young people and their families. We welcome applications from individuals qualifying in summer 2017, to whom we will provide enhanced supervisory support. We also welcome applications from experienced main grade and specialist EPs who are looking for a new challenge. Our current priorities for specialist posts are Autism Spectrum / SLCN and Social and Emotional Wellbeing.

The Educational Psychology Team is part of the SEND and Vulnerable Learners Service. Following a recent strategic review the Service is now implementing some key changes in the support and range of provision available for children, young people and families in Middlesbrough. Your activities will relate to both the statutory functions of the local authority and developing traded services, with the latter set to expand in the coming years.

These posts offer unique opportunities to both develop and be part of a strong, supportive team of Educational Psychologists, plotting and navigating a new course with a new model of service delivery at a time of positive change and improvement.

To reach a port, we must sail!

If you would like to know more please ring Fiona Alexander, Principal EP, or Caroline Cannon, SEND and Vulnerable Learners Manager on 01642 201861.

All applicants must be HCPC registered.

The above post is subject to an enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check.

Closing date: Wednesday 4th January 2017 by 12 noon.

Interview date: Week commencing Monday 16th January 2016.
