We have an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic and organised person to lead a small and friendly team in the delivery of Democratic, Electoral, including support services to Members and the Civic Mayoral role, within Darlington Borough Council. The PA service is also line managed by this post
You will have previous experience of Local Authority democratic and electoral work and have a good understanding of the procedures and practices that govern this work. You will be a clear communicator and confident giving relevant and timely advice (including on the constitution) to Elected Members, Officers and the public.
You will be the Council’s Statutory Scrutiny Officer and support the Returning Officer, in the planning and delivery of elections.
You will have experience of managing staff and budget management.
The post will involve some work outside of normal working hours, such as elections and also meetings like Council and Cabinet
This post is a politically restricted post under the Local Government and Housing Act 1989.
