A professional and enthusiastic Environmental Health Officer or Practitioner is required to join the Environmental Health Food Team within the Public Protection Service. An Officer with a specialism in Food is required and holds the CIEH Environmental Health Registration Board Certificate or is working towards or has attained CIEH Chartered Status in Environmental Health. The successful applicant must demonstrate the competency and qualifications required as set out in the Food Law Code of Practice for food standards and food hygiene inspections.

The ideal candidate will be a self-motivated professional with the relevant level of experience in an Environmental Health background. It is essential that the candidate will have worked previously as an Environmental Health Officer in a local authority and be competent to carry out high risk food Hygiene and Standards inspections. Previous experience in enforcement action would be desirable.

North Tyneside Council is responsible for port health which includes imported food and ship sanitation inspections. The candidate would be eligible to be part of the port health rota and therefore experience in this area would be desirable however in house training can be provided in this area.

This is a varied role to include all areas of Food and previous experience working in that field as an Environmental Health Officer is essential.

The salary for this role currently includes an additional market supplement of £5000. Details of the terms of the supplement are available from the recruiting manager
