An opportunity has arisen for an Environmental Health Apprentice to train to become an Environmental Health Practitioner over a 48 month fixed period.
The areas covered as an Apprentice will include:
• Environmental protection including noise, nuisance, air, water and land pollution
• Food safety: auditing, inspection and education
• Health and safety at work: auditing, inspection and education
• Private sector housing including standards: houses in multiple occupation (HMOs), licensing, inspecting
• Public health including infectious disease control, smoke free legislation
• Port health: sampling, inspecting and controlling imported foods
You will be part of a large specialist team and work to provide valuable support to the residents and businesses of North Tyneside.
As an Apprentice you will be enrolled on a BSc Environmental Health Apprenticeship degree and must be able to meet the minimum entry requirements for course (Minimum 104 UCAS points, or equivalent. GCSE English Language, Maths and Science at Grade C or above). Experience or background knowledge in environmental work would be beneficial though not essential. The post holder will work towards chartered status of Environmental Health Institute the relevant professional body. The training will include an element of campus based teaching in Leeds with all travel costs met by the Authority.
The post holder should be prepared to work flexible hours to allow for planned evening or weekend work.
