We are seeking candidates to manage our Healthy Homes Initiative that will explore the link between health and housing with respect to vulnerable occupants and those with underlying health issues. The post will also have the academic responsibility to develop and implement a research programme under the leadership of Northumbria University, hence we are seeking candidates who have, or are pending, a PhD in a related field.

You will build upon the previous award winning work carried out by North Tyneside Homes and Northumbria University under a Knowledge Transfer Partnership that looked specifically at the health and well-being of older people. You will oversee the continuation of the work while taking the service developments into a wider base. Working with other professionals in Housing, Adult Social Care and Health, you will form an integral part of a structure to research and enhance tenants’ well-being and develop a strategic model for community wellbeing through integrated and partnership working. You will be aware of the resources available to enable tenants to live safely and well and will also develop a service providing practical assistance and advice through a small team of Safe and Healthy Home officers.

The post encompasses a significant academic element. You will co-author academic papers based on service improvement and research findings. You will also contribute to higher education by informing academic teaching programmes and assist with obtaining research grants to contribute to a programme concerning housing, health and quality of life.
