An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the North Tyneside Parks team as a Senior Education Warden taking a leading role in delivering a valued educational resource to schools and organisations from around the North East. The Outdoor Learning and Environmental Education Service deliver educational visits and events to around 7,000 children and adults per year.

If you are passionate about the natural world and are looking for an opportunity to raise awareness of environmental matters introducing the value of local green spaces to schools and other organisations whilst inspiring future generations and embedding a respect for the natural environment, we would love to hear from you.

We are looking for an enthusiastic individual with a can-do attitude who is eager to contribute to the Outdoor Educational Provision and be part of the Green Flag Award winning North Tyneside Park Service.

You will be required to work 18.5 hours per week over a fixed two and a half days per week as part of a job share.

You would be required to develop, communicate, and coordinate the planning and delivery of the outdoor education programme at the Rising Sun Country Park, Wallsend Parks, Northumberland Park, and other locations within North Tyneside. This involves organising and leading school parties and other groups around the sites and running activity days and other public events.

Experience of working with children and young people in the outdoor environment is essential. The successful candidate will be motivated, committed to raising environmental awareness and prepared to work outdoors in adverse weather conditions and over rough terrain. There will be occasional evening and weekend work.

Candidates should have excellent communication and organisational skill and ideally experience in the following:

• Developing and delivering learning plans for outdoor activities that meet the current curriculum.
• Health and Safety and Risk Assessments for outdoor learning.
• A sound knowledge of British wildlife and environmental issues.
• Working with children and young people or organised groups in the outdoor environment
