Further Information
This is an exciting opportunity to work with individuals who experience a range of long-term conditions and disabilities in North Tyneside and require the support of Adult Social Care services. We offer a service to all adults over 18 as well as those young people who are transitioning from Childrens services. Caseloads reflect a predominance of elders though we also support people with physical needs, those with mild learning difficulties and mental health needs as well as those on the autistic spectrum.

At North Tyneside Council, people are at the heart of everything we do. We are currently looking for social workers to join our North West and Coast Community Wellbeing Teams.

We are an ambitious council which cares and listens, and we believe everyone deserves the best outcome. Our adult social care team has a strong reputation for changing lives, and you’ll be joining a passionate group of people who provide a vital service to our residents.

The successful applicants will have responsibility to assess individual need under the Care Act and assist people in recognising and managing their own needs wherever possible in order to maximise their independence and choice. This will involve drawing upon the support of families, informal carers and communities to ensure that individuals remain safe and enjoy a better quality of life. Where informal services are unable to meet the needs of very vulnerable people services will be organised to maintain their support so skills in assessing and planning support for such individuals and their families will be a necessary skill to fulfil this role. Knowledge of the needs of vulnerable individuals who live with illness and disability will be an important quality to bring to this post as will an understanding of the needs of carers and the local communities which we serve.

We are looking for people with the right qualities to undertake this role so a compassionate but resilient personal approach will be important in coping with this demanding role. The post requires a social work qualification and knowledge, experience and a willingness to learn are key assets if you wish to succeed in social care practice. Learning and development opportunities are provided as well as regular supervision and support to assist you in achieving high levels of practice.
