Further Information

The Governors of this happy, 2 form entry primary school invite applications for the position of Well-Being Lead on a 2 year fixed term contract (which if funding permits will be made permanent at the end of this time).  The position is full time (term time only plus 5 training days).  Candidates should be experienced, qualified to a minimum of Level 4 and must be enthusiastic, energetic & highly competent.   The need for a Level 4 qualification or degree may be waived if the applicant is able to show an extensive and proven track record of working in a similar role.

The successful candidate will be able to provide a complementary service to existing teachers and other staff in the school, thereby addressing the needs of children who need help to overcome barriers to learning, both inside and outside of school, in order to achieve their full potential.

Furthermore applicants must be able to show that they are able to:

Work as part of a team
Deliver an inclusive, empathetic, high quality experiences for pupils
Build good working relationships with both pupils and adults
Demonstrate good literacy and numeracy skills
Manage children & have excellent behaviour management skills

The successful candidate will be adaptable and understanding and will be experienced in interacting with all children, playing a full role in the duties that are required, which could be within any Key Stage.

Main Duties of the Post

To design appropriate programmes for students;
To liaise with parents to encourage their support;
To ensure contact with parents/carers is maintained;
To work with pupils and their families;
To liaise with school staff in order to provide appropriate well-being packages of work in order  to support pupils in accessing their learning;
To take a key role in working with children and their families to promote good attendance at school and to be prepared to address occurrences of non-attendance and/or persistent absenteeism in line with the school’s attendance targets and procedures.
To be familiar with, and use identification, tracking and referral systems to meet the needs of pupils, and to develop effective record keeping and information transfer systems;
To network with pastoral staff from other schools and organisations, sharing best practice; 
To undertake further duties in agreement with the headteacher and/or Senior Leadership Team;
Special Conditions: There will be a need for flexible working arrangements

Responsibilities

To be aware of, and comply with, policies and procedures relating to child protection, health, safety and security,
To ensure and promote confidentiality and data protection, reporting all concerns to an appropriate person;
To be aware of and support difference and ensure equal opportunities for all;
To contribute to the overall ethos/work/aims of the school;
To appreciate and support the role of other professionals, both inside and outside of school;
To attend and participate in relevant meetings, as required
To participate in training, other learning activities and performance development, as required.

The governors are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and we expect all staff and volunteers to share this commitment.  Therefore the successful candidate will be required to apply for clearance from the Disclosure and Barring Service and will be subject to other relevant pre-employment checks as appropriate.

There will also be an expectation that the individual will initially attend training in basic Child Protection and possibly in basic first aid also. It is likely that the role will involve being part of the Safeguarding Team, in which case, further relevant training will be necessary.  The successful candidate will need to be resilient, committed and able to be active for prolonged periods.
