Further Information
Do you have a passion to play a key role in people's everyday life events?

Could you see yourself delivering ceremonies in beautiful settings?

Do you enjoy a challenge and want high level job satisfaction?
Then this job is for you!!

Redcar & Cleveland Register Office delivers approximately 150 ceremonies annually in the Civic Centre ceremony rooms, and 350 at approved premises which include hotels, golf clubs and event establishments.

All approved venues are located within the Redcar & Cleveland Borough Council area, which is the largest borough within the Tees Valley.  You will need to have access to a vehicle to get to and from these venues across the borough.

Our venues can hold between 4 to 500+ guests so it is essential that you are confident and have some experience in public speaking.  Ceremonies may take place within the approved premise or in their grounds (weather dependent).

Your role will predominantly require you to conduct and register civil ceremonies, and assist at citizenship ceremonies, so you will be required to understand statutory requirements and their application to ensure that your duties are undertaken lawfully.  Training in registration legislation and practice will be provided.

You will also be required to conduct non-statutory ceremonies, such as naming ceremonies, renewal of vows and civil partnership conversions.
In both these roles, you will need to take the lead in managing the event, ensuring ceremonies run to time and all parties fulfil their responsibilities, and manage any unforeseen issues sensitively, maintaining the dignity and decorum of the event.

Ceremonies are at their peak between the months of March and October, but they do take place all year round.  Weekends and Bank Holidays are usually our busiest, however weekday ceremonies are on the increase.  Hours will vary and on occasion can be subject to change at short notice depending upon operational needs, so we are looking for individuals who can demonstrate a flexible approach to their working hours.

On occasion, you may be required, depending on your availability, to carry out statutory registration duties relating to births, deaths, marriages and civil partnerships in the Civic Centre and at approved venues as required by the authority.

This is a rewarding role offering great personal satisfaction.  You will have the opportunity to meet a diverse range of people and work in some beautiful venues. If you have excellent people skills, commitment and can adapt your communication style to different customers, we would love to hear from you.
