Further Information
Tees Valley Audit and Assurance Service is an integrated internal audit and assurance team providing assurance services to the public sector, principally Redcar and Cleveland Council and Middlesbrough Council. The Team carries out a range of internal audit and assurance work and also provides guidance and support on control and governance related issues.

We now have an exciting opportunity for a dynamic and confident individual with excellent communication and report writing skills and who is able to contribute positively to continual service improvement and change. We are looking to recruit an experienced internal audit professional to be one of two Grade I+ Assurance Leads to support the Audit and Assurance Manager in developing the way in which the Service provides assurance.

You will have responsibility for delivering a programme of internal audit and risk management assignments. You will have line management responsibility for a small number of staff and so will be a strong manager who is able to confidently lead and supervise others to ensure that assignments are successfully delivered in accordance with the Service’s standards, timescales and performance targets.

You will also be expected to complete a range of internal audit, critical friend and advisory and special investigation assignments.

You will need to demonstrate a creative and innovative approach to audit and assurance work as the role will involve completion of complex and value added assurance assignments across both Redcar and Cleveland Council and Middlesbrough Council and may also involve special investigation work. You will also have significant involvement in overseeing the maintenance of the corporate risk register for Redcar and Cleveland Borough Council.

You will be expected to demonstrate a flexible approach to work by responding to the needs of the Service, including, at times the need to work beyond usual working hours. The role will involve travel across both boroughs.

The successful applicant will hold either a CCAB qualification (active membership) or the CMIIA from the Institute of Internal Auditors (also active membership). You will be willing to undertake additional training and qualifications as required in order to meet the training and development strategy of the Team.

The Assurance Lead Audit & Risk Job Description and Person Specification will apply to this post.
