As part of our journey, South Tyneside Homes, which has over 16,000 homes across the region, has a rare opportunity for a talented and experienced leader to join them as Interim Assistant Head of Housing.

As Interim Assistant Head of Housing, you will lead the design and of a new approach to Strategic Tenancy Sustainment within South Tyneside Homes and provide direction and support to operational managers and their teams, ensuring clarity of direction, effective communication and successful project delivery. Within the role and as a member of the Senior management team, it will be essential that you adopt a collaborative and supportive approach, maintaining up to date professional knowledge whilst providing advice and assistance to colleagues as required.

You will have experience of working in a senior management role, preferably in housing or a similar background, and be able to demonstrate a genuine desire to make a difference to people’s lives. Key to your success will be evidenced by your abilities to develop and promote involvement, communication and partnership working in all aspects of service delivery, whilst ensuring that external, statutory, and regulatory obligations, performance, and financial targets are met.

The success of our Housing Team has been built on a highly engaging performance related culture within the teams and delivering the highest standards of customer care to ensure that services are monitored effectively, and standards and targets are understood by staff, and you will play part in building on this success

Other key attributes and skills are required to support your application, these include the requirement to evidence that you are:

• Educated to degree level (or equivalent professional qualification)
• Able to evidence a supported path of continuous professional development
• Experienced in leading housing management services and strategic planning
• Experienced in the delivery of service improvement and efficiency gains through innovative partnership working
• Experience of working with elected members and tenant forums
• Experience of working successfully in a politically sensitive environment
