The Service
The Housing & Public Protection Team operates throughout Northumberland and is responsible for maintaining council housing stock. The successful apprentice will work alongside experienced staff undertaking a range of repair and maintenance activities.
The role
An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Local Services Team for an Apprentice Joiner. Although applicants do not need to have any prior experience, they must be willing to undertake duties to gain experience and knowledge in Joinery, supported with offsite training. Roles in Joinery are physical in nature, and may involve lifting and moving of equipment, working at heights, and working in confined spaces. The ability to converse at ease with customers and provide advice in accurate spoken English is essential for the post. Apprentice Joiners operate strictly within the requirements of health and safety legislation
The broad purpose of the occupation is working with building materials (most often wood) to create and install building components.? This typically involves shaping and cutting materials, installing finished materials like partitions, doors, staircases, window frames, mouldings, timber floor coverings and erecting structural components such as floor joists and roofs. All work needs to be carried out safely, using the appropriate tools and to the quality specified.
Although applicants do not need to have any prior experience, they must be willing to undertake duties and training to gain experience in level 2 Apprenticeship in Joinery, all responsibilities will be supported with offsite apprenticeship training.

GCSE Maths and English (Grade 4/c or equivalent)
