Apprentice (Electrician)

If you’re a hands-on problem-solver, this could be the apprenticeship for you!

Electricians install, maintain and repair electrical systems in industrial, commercial, and domestic environments. They make sure electrical equipment works correctly and safely.

As an Apprentice Electrician, you will join Durham County Council’s highly skilled Building and Facilities Maintenance team, and you will have the opportunity to develop the skills and competencies to be able to assist in the provision of an Electrical Service

Your day-to-day duties will include supporting the Electrical Managers, and wider team, with electrical installation and maintenance, as well as promoting and developing working practices and procedures to improve the Health and Safety culture. You will ensure compliance with standards, policies and procedures and promote the service to both existing and potential customers. We will support you as you study towards an Installation and Maintenance Electrician Level 3.

This apprenticeship is an excellent choice for those with an ambition to progress!  
 
What qualification will I gain?

You will study towards the Installation Electrician and Maintenance Electrician Level 3 with New College Durham.
 
What will I need?

You must either have or expect to achieve 3 GCSE’s grade 9-4/A*-C in English, Maths and a Science subject, or an equivalent qualification, together with good communication and problem-solving skills and the ability to work as part of a team.
