Gateshead Council is investing in developing its existing operation collecting waste from local commercial premises. This is a new and exciting role working to support business improvement and growth. It includes a varied mix of office based customer care duties together with sales support, including out-bound calling for lead generation and marketing campaign delivery. The role reports direct to the Commercial and Revenue Manager, working closely with colleagues in Field Sales, Operations and Finance.

What will be required of you?

1. Answer incoming enquiries and requests for information.
2. Provide initial advice and assistance to customers.
3. Take personal 'ownership' of customer issues and enquiries, ensuring a timely and complete business response.
4. Provide administrative support including:
a. ensuring performance and activity information is compiled and maintained;
b. managing the business' marketing and contact database accurately; and
c. preparing and issuing marketing campaign communication.
5. Conduct out-bound telesales calling to identify opportunities, produce leads and book appointments (with the emphasis on generating high quality leads)

What do you need to demonstrate in this role?

We are looking for someone who is passionate about delivering excellence in customer care with a demonstrable aptitude and appetite for developing new business sales. It is essential you have the following experience, knowledge and qualifications:

ICT literate and competent in Microsoft office applications including CRM systems and practices.
2 years' experience in a customer service Sales environment dealing with customers either face to face or over the telephone within the environmental/waste(or related) industry.
Be able to demonstrate effective communication and customer care skills
Effective listening and problem resolution skills.
Strong personal commitment to providing exceptional levels of customer service.
Ability to work quickly and accurately under pressure and prioritise issues
4 GCSEs or equivalent at grade C or above including Maths and English.
