Horizons Specialist Academy Trust consists of three academies, Abbey Hill Academy, Westlands Academy and Green Gates Academy, serving a population of 400 students aged 5 to 19 with a broad range of learning difficulties.
Westlands Academy is situated in Thornaby and provides for 75 students aged 11 to 16 years who have SEMHD, as well as other learning difficulties and in addition has a 15 place residential unit. The post at Westlands Academy requires working with young people at KS3/4 who present challenging behavior.
We are seeking an outstanding, creative and enthusiastic teaching assistant to join our team at Westlands Academy. The right candidates will need to be enthusiastic and inspirational with high expectations of our children and themselves.
Previous experience of working with students with SEMHD would be desirable but not essential. Good communication and interpersonal skills are essential requirements of this post.
