Practice Supervisor- Catterick Garrison Are you passionate about providing high quality care for children, young people and their families? We currently have an exciting opportunity for a Practice Supervisor to join our established Safeguarding team based at Catterick Garrison. Our highly regarded Children’s Service continues to receive national recognition for its innovative approach and ability to radically improve the life chances of vulnerable young people. A recent LGA peer review referred to our children’s services as outstanding, providing a beacon for other authorities. The outcomes that are being achieved for our children and young people are genuinely inspiring, and are deservedly raising the profile of the Council. As one of eight partner authorities to share and develop good practice in children’s services at a national level, as a ‘Partner in Practice’ for the Department for Education, you would be joining one of the best children’s social work services in the country. Our Children’s Social care team are highly regarded and are consistently high performing. Having recently completed a Social Worker Health Check Survey, 93% said they would recommend North Yorkshire as a good place to be a Social Worker. We have a low vacancy rate, low turnover and we have not employed an agency worker in over 4 years. As a result of our excellent workforce stability, children enjoy positive and stable relationships with their social workers. As a practice supervisor you will ensure the safe and effective delivery of services to Children and Families in accordance with Children and Families’ Policies and Procedures. In achieving this, you will be responsible for the effective management of social work practice through social work supervision. North Yorkshire Children & Families Service is committed to working with children and their families using the Signs of Safety model (Turnell and Edwards 1999) which is a strength based solution focused approach. Signs of Safety is well embedded across the service and you will be expected to drive this across other agencies through the practice leader forums. You will be fully qualified, holding accredited social work professional status (CQSW, DipSW, CSS, PQCCA) and have a thorough understanding of social work practice, associated legislation and guidance and be able to manage care proceedings and complex child protection decisions. In return North Yorkshire County Council can offer you a comprehensive benefits package including generous annual leave entitlements, a local government pension scheme, flexible working, salary sacrifice and continuous personal development. Whilst the post would be based in Catterick Garrison, we are supported with modern technology and accessibility to enable flexibility and agility with working from other work bases or from home and patterns of work, centred around the needs of our customers and the achievement of visible leadership. Catterick Garrison benefits from excellent road and rail links, with easy access to the A1(M) and A66, making Teesside, Leeds and York all easily commutable. North Yorkshire borders the Lake District, Lancashire, County Durham, and Yorkshire & Humber regions with all they have to offer. North Yorkshire is much more than its stunning landscape; we are one of the safest places to live, with some of the best education results nationally, we have an abundance of heritage, culture and leisure accessible from our quaint rural villages, bustling market towns and vibrant neighbouring cities. There really is something for all… A relocation package will be considered for those who are new to North Yorkshire. If you would like to join our highly regarded children’s service we would like to hear from you!
