Further Information
We are looking to appoint a qualified teacher (QTS) to join the Special Educational Needs Improvement Team (SENIT) and provide peripatetic/outreach support to children and young people aged 0 -25 years with a range of vision difficulties.

You must be a qualified and experienced teacher who has relevant and substantial classroom experience, and ideally already holds the mandatory qualification for visual impairment including Grade 2 Braille. The focus of the role will be on teaching children with visual impairment in a school based and peripatetic/outreach role.

An in depth knowledge of the strategies and technologies used to remove barriers to learning for babies, children and young people with visual impairment is essential as is knowledge of current SEN policy and practice especially as it affects teaching and learning within provision for the sight impaired.

You should have successful experience of teaching in an educational setting,
experience of working with families and different settings and
experience of multi agency working as well as experience of delivering staff development sessions/presentations.

You must have knowledge of the requirements for Safeguarding and Child Protection.

If you do not hold the mandatory qualification you will be considered but must be willing to undertake training.
