We currently have a vacancy for a Health and Social Care Officer working nights within our Respite and Crisis Centre at Castle Dene.

You must be enthusiastic, motivated and committed to working in a challenging yet rewarding environment. This post involves working with adults who have profound multiple learning disabilities with additional complex health needs and service users whose behaviour may challenge.

You will be required to work as part of a team using person centred approaches to ensure that the needs and aspirations of service users are met appropriately.
You will be expected to assist in all aspects of daily living including personal care, assistance with meals, and have some experience in working with people whose behaviour may be seen as challenging.

We will provide regular support, structured supervision and appraisal. In addition we offer training to meet national standards.

This post involves working on the front-line providing care and support to some of the most vulnerable adults in the city. We are looking for someone with a flexible approach who are committed to making a real difference in people’s lives.

Our staff work closely with health colleagues and must be able to demonstrate a strong commitment to promoting independence, health, wellbeing and choice to those who use our services. Maintaining the dignity of service users must be a priority at all times and you must be able to deliver personal care with great sensitivity.

Staff within the service work a waking night shift overnight between 9pm and 8am on a rota basis. Enhancements are currently paid for weekend working and for hours worked before 8am and after 8pm.

We are committed to protecting and promoting the welfare of children, young people and vulnerable adults and expect all staff to share this commitment. This post is working in regulated activity. If you are successful we will undertake additional recruitment checks which will include a check to see if you have had any criminal convictions, a check of police information and we will check the barred list(s). It is a criminal offence for a barred individual to apply for a job in regulated activity.

Apply online at www.northeastjobs.org.uk.

As this post involves working with children, vulnerable adults or dealing with sensitive information, written references will be taken up and made available to interviewers before the final selection stage; even if you indicate otherwise.
