A Northumberland middle school, based in Berwick, is working with First Class Supply to directly appoint a Year 5/6 teacher who will also act as Head of Year across Key Stage 2.
This is a small but rapidly improving school whose effectiveness has increased due to the strength in leadership. Higher expectations and teaching standards have led to good progress and an enriched experience for all. Students enjoy school and have very positive attitudes to learning.

We require teachers who:-

• Have experience working within KS2.
• Contribute to the overall development of the school and its whole curriculum by the appropriate supervision of pupils and support to all colleagues.
• Work as an active phase/subject team member and implement agreed whole school policies to ensure the aims of the school may be fulfilled.
• Participate in joint planning and collaborative approaches in the delivery of the curriculum and in developing appropriate resources.
• Establish a working environment which encourages learning, celebrates pupils' work through display, etc. and demonstrates an atmosphere which is ordered, disciplined and purposeful at all times and which helps all pupils to feel secure and valued.
• Will take overall responsibility for the year group
• Provide an appropriate climate for learning in Year 5
• Ensure that all children irrespective of their starting points including SEND, disadvantaged, more able etc make at least expected progress
• Can coordinate transition of Year 4 pupils with Year 5
• Lead organisation of Year 5 Activities
• Line management of the appropriate staff
• Where and when appropriate taking responsibility for absent colleagues

Experience in a similar role would be advantageous, however all applications that meet the above criteria will be considered.
