As a council we are focusing on three key outcome themes – People, Place and Economy. To support this agenda we are now looking for exceptional candidates for this newly created Executive Director post. It will provide strategic leadership within the council, report directly to the Chief Executive and play a key role in the council’s Executive Management Team.
The Executive Director of Economy and Place will be at the forefront of the next phase of Sunderland’s successful development as a hub of the regional and national economy. The new postholder will work with and influence a range of key stakeholders and businesses across the country, Westminster, Europe and the wider global economy, to ensure that Sunderland continues to build on its proven strengths in advanced manufacturing, customer service fulfilment, software, etc. With responsibility for bringing jobs and growth to Sunderland as well as delivering excellent front line services to residents, this is a key role for the city as we move forward.
