Further Information
Required for September 2017, we require an outstanding Science Teacher, preferably with the ability to teach Chemistry or Physics to A-Level. This is an exciting opportunity to join a very successful and thriving Science department in this Outstanding school with Teaching School status.

Our school has a really positive ethos, with very strong pastoral and academic guidance and a real emphasis on learning in everything we do. We were inspected by Ofsted in May 2012 and were graded as Outstanding in every category and overall. Such significant progress has only been possible because we have a committed, enthusiastic and highly skilled staff team, a supportive governing body and superb students. We genuinely believe the support, care and welfare of our students is second to none and we are a school which puts the students at the very centre of all that it does.

Ofsted said that our students receive “a first-class education” but we are not a complacent school. There are many aspects that we can improve further and our challenge is to do this without compromising our existing strengths.

If you are an enthusiastic, innovative and creative teacher with a high level of professional and interpersonal skills, we would like to hear from you. Applications from NQTs are welcomed and an excellent programme of support is in place to ensure a successful induction.

George Stephenson High School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and we expect all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. As such an enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) disclosure will be sought along with other relevant employment checks deemed appropriate.
