Framwellgate Moor Primary School is looking to recruit a Caretaker Apprentice who will have responsibility to provide grounds and buildings support within Framwellgate Moor Primary School.

We are looking for someone with a ‘can do’ attitude, a team player, with good communication skills both verbal and written.

The person will develop skills to provide caretaker support to the team to help the school operate effectively and efficiently.

Duties include but are not inclusive of:
• Assist with ensuring that the building and grounds are maintained to the highest possible standards
• Learning to take responsibility for the security of the site
• Carry out preventative maintenance
• Carry out minor repairs and decoration work
• Learning to ensure that appropriate action is taken to ensure the safety of children, staff and visitors
• Assist with removal of litter and other materials from inside and outside the buildings
• Spot cleaning of spillages, body wastes etc

Relevant Qualifications: Either have or expect to achieve 2 GCSE in English and Maths at Grades A-C or hold equivalent and relevant qualification or be willing to undertake courses to achieve English and Maths during the 12 month period.

All apprentices are supported and guided throughout their placement by key individuals within their team with additional mentoring support from our development team. The successful candidate will be given a mentor, work plan, traning plan and access to our in-house NVQ provider.

Please note that this position is whole time, which means that you will be in attendance at work all year round (52 weeks a year) and will have an annual leave entitlement (26 days if you have less than 5 years’ continuous local government service, 31 days if you have in excess of 5 years’ continuous local government service; pro rata for part time), which must be taken during school closure periods. During periods of school closure outside of your annual leave entitlement, you are required to be in attendance at work.
