We are seeking an experienced Counsellor to support the mental health and wellbeing of pupils through counselling to further contribute to the welfare and pastoral care offered across our trust of schools.
The mental health needs of pupils are central to our common purpose and our trust values of being aspirational and responsible. This new role will focus on supporting pupils identified as having highest need using a range of therapeutic skills.
A successful track record of providing counselling to young people in an educational setting and working collaboratively with multi-agency professionals and community support groups to improve outcomes for young people is essential, as well as being suitably qualified. You will be highly motivated to improve outcomes for all learners, acting as a champion for the mental wellbeing of pupils across our five schools.
Based at our Head Office in the NE6 area, you will need to be able to travel across the trust’s portfolio of academies and therefore access to your own transport is essential.
NEAT is highly committed to the professional development of its staff and identifying talent for the future. We also provide access to the Local Government Pension Scheme, a generous annual leave entitlement and have an accrued time policy.
Please contact our Central team on 0191 228 4099 if you would like to discuss this opportunity informally.
We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people. It is essential that all staff and volunteers share this commitment. You will need to have an enhanced criminal records check by the Disclosure and Barring Service.
As this post involves working with children, vulnerable adults or dealing with sensitive information, written references will be taken up and made available to interviewers before the final selection stage; even if you indicate otherwise.
A completed application form, criminal records declaration and equal opportunities monitoring form must be submitted by 12 noon on Friday 24 July 2020 by email to admin@neat.org.uk.
