Teacher of Music
Harton Academy

Main Pay Scale / Start in September

Harton Academy values its Music department and the impact that music education has on the lives of young people. We have four full-time music staff delivering 50% more curriculum time for Key Stage 3 and 4 students than recommended by government guidance, and we are working to grow our post-16 curriculum. We are extremely well equipped, with three teaching classrooms, a music IT room, ensemble rehearsal room, and four practise rooms. We deliver both GCSE and BTEC courses, we are supported by an excellent team of peripatetic teachers and offer free tuition on orchestral instruments. Our orchestra boasts 60+ musicians, and our broader extra-curricular programme includes choir, guitar group, keyboard club and rock bands, as well as a post-16 enrichment offer. We are committed to inclusive music making.

The role is to commence in September, and would be ideally suited for a newly qualified candidate.

We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, young people and vulnerable adults.  We expect all our staff and volunteers to share our commitment.  Successful applicants are required to obtain an Enhanced Certificate of Disclosure from the Disclosure and Barring Service.

Application packs are available from the Academy’s website https://harton-tc.co.uk/year-7-11/information/vacancies/  – and should be returned by Noon on Thursday 6 March, 2025.
