Further Information
Are you committed to providing excellent services to children and families? Do you want a job where you can make a direct impact in the community? An exciting opportunity has arisen for a suitably qualified and experienced Education Officer to work within the Newcastle Youth Justice Service based in Newcastle Civic Centre.

You would be part of an experienced and supportive team, providing high quality and effective youth justice services on a citywide basis.

You should have an education background and experience of working with young people involved with the criminal justice system. You will work alongside YJS case managers, schools, and other professionals in supporting young people with a view to improving educational outcomes for young people active to the YJS.
The role involves working with vulnerable young people who have complex needs. We therefore require you to be flexible, enthusiastic and committed to working with  statutory partners, local and national organisations to improve outcomes for young people.

You should have a NVQ level 4 qualification in Education, Child Care, Social Care or an equivalent and relevant discipline.
We are committed to protecting and promoting the welfare of children, young people and vulnerable adults and expect all staff to share this commitment.

This post is working in regulated activity. Before confirming an appointment we will undertake additional recruitment checks which will include a check to see if you have had any criminal convictions, a check of police information and we will check the barred list(s). It is a criminal offence for a barred individual to apply for a job in regulated activity.

For an informal discussion, please contact Jade Gooch Team Manager, or Jen Dinsdale Service Manager on 0191 2777377.
