The Governing Body are looking to appoint energetic and highly motivated individuals with a strong desire and commitment to work in Alternative Education.  Those appointed will join us at an exciting juncture on the school’s improvement journey; they will be committed and enthusiastic team players and driven to raise standards.

The successful applicants will:
  • Be committed to safeguarding and the wellbeing of children
  • Be passionate about education and committed to developing the potential of every child
  • Have experience of SEND, inclusion and children with SEMH
  • Be approachable and always willing to turn their hand to something new
  • Have high expectations of pupil aspiration, achievement and behaviour and a consistent approach and ability to challenge unacceptable behaviour 
Key Tasks of Post:
  • To work across both sites (when directed) under the guidance of teaching / senior staff and within an agreed system of supervision, to implement agreed work programmes with individuals/groups, in or out of the classroom
  • Facilitate in the offsite supervision of pupils excluded from, or otherwise not working to, a normal timetable
  • Manage and support pupils on attendance plans
  • Welfare checks / home visits on Offsite Provisions
  • Collate attendance data, follow Local Authority practice and initiate legal proceedings (if required)
  • Establish constructive relationships with parents / carers, exchanging information, facilitating their support for their child’s attendance, access and learning and supporting home to school and community links
  • Promote independence and employ strategies to recognise and reward achievement of self-reliance and emotional resilience
  • Where appropriate, act as a Key Worker for some pupils, offering support and monitoring attendance and behaviours and reporting back to the Tutor on a regular basis 
Applicants should have a sound understanding of the skills required to teach children. Evidence of good interpersonal, organisational and communication skills is essential. A willingness to work across both school sites and undertake further training and development would be an advantage.

The successful candidates should have the skills and ability to work across either primary and/or secondary. Please state your area of expertise and a preference for primary or secondary on the application form.
